Covenant Announcement

Dear Loyal and Faithful Readers,

I have a brief announcement to make.

In an effort to up the net presence of this endeavor and make this blog more than just a newsletter to friends and family some changes are taking place. First, you know that I have already asked two people whom I respect to join me as authors on the blog. There will be an extension of invites to a limited number of other writers whom I respect and trust to join the effort as well. Once that takes place and those folks agree to contribute, we will make a brief announcement to let you know.

A second change is occurring with the title of the blog. The new name of the blog will be The Barnes Covenant. This is something that will hopefully be more friendly to net search engines and possibly be picked up on by other bloggers and spread the blog virally across the web.

You may be wondering why I chose the name The Barnes Covenant. First and foremost it is because I will be retaining editor and administrator rights to the blog and ultimately the buck with this endeavor stops here. Second, a covenant has many contexts and applications, but in its most general meaning, it is a solemn promise to engage in or refrain from a specified action.

In a legal context, the common law understood a covenant was distinguished from an ordinary contract by the presence of a seal. The seal indicated a heightened importance in the promises made in a covenant. Therefore, the common law would often enforce a covenant even in the absence of consideration because the covenant was/is a type of contract in which the covenantor makes a promise to a covenantee to do or not do some action.

In real property law, the term real covenants is used to denote conditions tied to the use of land. Covenants for title are covenants which come with a deed or title to the property, in which the grantor of the title makes certain guarantees to the grantee. For instance, a Catholic Hospital may sell their facility to a non-Catholic entity with the covenant that so long as the property is used for medical purposes no abortions can be performed there.

In a religious context a covenant is a formal alliance or agreement made by God with that religious community or with humanity in general.

So, why did I choose to name this The Barnes Covenant, well it was certainly not because I hold any aspirations or fantasies about being on par with God. In reality, the reason I chose the word covenant was because I and the other writers of this blog are making a covenant promise with you the reader and we want it recognized by the title.

We make a formal promise to always pursue and present the truth as we see it. We vow to always present the facts as we know them without distortion. We make a commitment to uphold the values of liberty, freedom, and personal responsibility. We will not refrain from engaging on any issue and will do our utmost to keep our loyal and faithful readers informed of what we believe to be important, current, and relevant in the world in general and our country in specific. This is our covenant with you.

So there you have it. I/we thank you for reading and ask your assistance in spreading the word about our endeavor. Please feel free to share the blog with others who might enjoy the content. Announcement

I have a brief announcement to make.

In an effort to up the intellectual quality of this endeavor and publish more content for readers, as well as, make this blog something greater than I alone could make it, I have asked two people whom I respect to join me as authors on "Is the world crazy or is it just me...".

I will be maintaining administrator rights for the time being and will continue to post as an author as well, however, some content on the site will begin to come from our two new authors, Kevin Pettrey and JP Callan.

I greatly look forward to their contributions and hope you will enjoy reading their articles and opinions as much as I do.

Also, on another note, please feel free to share the blog with others who might enjoy the content and to make comments on articles or ideas you find interesting, disagree with, or would just like to add to. We appreciate your support and your feedback.
