Sonia Sotomayor was confirmed by the Senate today to become the next sitting justice on the Supreme Court of the United States (SCOTUS). By a vote of 68-31, the Senate sent Sotomayor to join SCOTUS.
No matter your political ideology, please recognize that this day in America is one that has historical significance. The Supreme Court will welcome it's third female justice and first person of Latino descent to the bench. Whether you agree with Justice Sotomayor's ideology or her jurisprudence, this is a good day in our country's history.
So I say Congratulations Justice Sotomayor, welcome to the Supreme Court, and may you write many dissents that are joined by 3 other justices.
